Filters are classified into three categories based on the method of obtaining the filtration driving force: gravity filters, vacuum filters, and pressure filters.
Gravity: The pressure created on the filter medium by the gravity and level difference of the suspension serves as the driving force for filtration.
Vacuum: A negative pressure is created at the filtrate outlet as the driving force for filtration.
Pressure: The pressure applied at the suspension inlet or the mechanical pressing force applied to the wet material serves as the driving force for filtration. It is suitable for suspensions requiring a large pressure differential and is further divided into batch and continuous operation types.
