Boiler Valve Protection and Placement Guidelines

1. Rust Prevention

Metal valves (such as gate valves and globe valves) should be coated with rust-preventive oil or grease, especially on easily oxidized areas such as flange faces and threaded connections.

For long-term storage (more than 6 months), it is recommended to check and replenish rust inhibitors every 3 months (according to API 598 standard).

2. Packaging Requirements

Uninstalled valves should retain their original packaging. If the packaging is damaged, it should be resealed with moisture-proof material (such as vacuum bags).

Small valves can be stacked in boxes, but the number of layers should not exceed 5. Heavy valves (such as large-diameter butterfly valves) should be laid flat in a single layer.

3. Placement Method

Do not invert or tilt more than 15° to prevent displacement of internal parts or deformation of sealing surfaces due to pressure.

Valves with actuators (such as electric valves) should have the actuator removed and stored separately to avoid subjecting the connecting bearings to additional load.
