Boiler Valve Storage Environment

The storage environment for boiler valves should be kept dry and clean, avoiding drastic fluctuations in temperature and humidity. The relative humidity of the storage area should ideally be controlled below 60%. Excessive humidity accelerates the oxidation of metal components, leading to corrosion. This is especially true for valves made of cast iron and carbon steel, where a water film easily forms on their surface in a humid environment, triggering electrochemical corrosion. If the storage area has consistently high humidity, dehumidification equipment or desiccants should be used to assist in reducing humidity.

 

Regarding temperature, the storage area should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Prolonged high temperatures accelerate the aging of sealing materials; for example, rubber seals may lose elasticity after continuous heating, affecting the valve's sealing performance. Extreme low temperatures may also cause some non-metallic components to become brittle, reducing their mechanical strength. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius, with good ventilation.

 

The storage area must be kept away from corrosive chemicals, dust, and other pollutants. If the air contains corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide or chlorine, it will react with the valve's metal surface, causing pitting or uniform corrosion. Valve warehouses should not be adjacent to chemical warehouses, and air quality checks should be conducted regularly.
